It feels like watching the sunrise over the ocean from the cliff top you hiked to alone or with a loved one. I painted this with weekend trips to Castlepoint, New Zealand in mind. We would always walk to the lighthouse on the cliff, washed golden in the quiet mornings. Then, we would watch the seagulls as we drove on the winding roads home, listening to Emmylou Harris's album, Red Dirt Girl.
